Kitchen Remodeling in Issaquah With a Fixed Bid Before Demo Day

5.0 from 21 Google reviews

Schock Construction and Design has remodeled Eastside homes for more than 30 years. Owner Steve Schock walks your kitchen, the estimate is explained line by line, and the price is locked before construction starts.

Prices on the page, decisions made before demolition

Schock Construction and Design has handled kitchen remodeling in Issaquah and across the Eastside for more than 30 years. It is locally owned and operated, works only east of Lake Washington and has completed more than 100 projects there.

Its approach is unusual for the trade: the site publishes real numbers. A kitchen runs $150,000 to $180,000 before appliances, and every scope item, allowance and selection is settled during design so the bid can be fixed before demo day.

Anything truly hidden behind a wall goes through a written change order that you see, price and approve before any work on it begins.

Kitchen Remodeling

Plywood cabinet boxes, 3/4-inch solid wood dovetail drawers and soft-close everything come standard, and range hoods over 300 CFM get the code-required makeup air. Expect about three months of design, four to six weeks of preparation and two and a half to three months of construction.

Bathroom Remodeling

Primary baths average around $150,000 all-in and hall baths run $80,000 to $100,000. In-floor heat runs into the shower floor and bench, walls get Durock board with Laticrete waterproofing, and humidity-sensing fans are sized to the room. Construction takes about two and a half months.

Whole-Home Remodeling

Main floors opened, systems replaced and every room designed as one vision. The Squak Mountain Retreat in Issaquah got a new furnace, a full rewire, rerouted plumbing, new windows and a full-height stone fireplace, and the Lake Sammamish View owners came back for three phases over three years.

Home Additions

Space that looks like it was always part of the house. At Beaver Lake in Sammamish, Schock enclosed a rear patio into the family room, adding 232 square feet of conditioned space without growing the footprint. Additions on Mercer Island and in Sammamish also appear in the firm's portfolio.

Steve Schock owns Schock Construction and Design, and in his words remodeling homes is a way of life: he likes seeing the potential in every house, old or new, big or small, then working out the plan, budget, design and build. He comes to the first on-site walkthrough for kitchen and bath projects.

His team includes project coordinator Lisa Howard, estimator and general manager Chris Dederer, office manager Michelle Winterstein, construction manager Mike Krajewski and site supervisors Doug Cetina and Elijha Shibkiy. We made a bathroom out of a laundry room and remodeled a second bathroom. Schock was extremely professional, friendly, and systematic. They took care of surprises, finished the project ahead of time, and kept us informed throughout.

Straight answers on Issaquah kitchen remodels

What does a kitchen remodel cost with Schock?

Schock's Eastside kitchens run $150,000 to $180,000 before appliances, which you buy yourself; plan on about $30,000 for a typical appliance package. Kitchens that open into the living space start around $250,000. The bid is fixed before demolition, so the number on page one of your estimate is the number you pay.

How long from first call to a finished kitchen?

Plan on about three months of design with the interior designer, four to six weeks of job preparation, then two and a half to three months of construction. A bathroom takes about two and a half months to build once its design is locked. Your estimate shows a projected construction start date.

What happens if you find something behind a wall?

It goes through a written change order. You see the problem, you see the price and you approve it before anyone touches it. Because scope, allowances and selections are all settled during design, very few surprises are left by the time demolition starts, which is how Schock keeps budgets and finish dates.

What comes standard that others charge extra for?

In kitchens: plywood cabinet boxes, 3/4-inch solid wood dovetail drawers, soft-close doors and drawers, and undermount sinks with real allowances. In primary baths: in-floor heat that runs into the shower and up the bench, a full Durock and Laticrete waterproofing system, and humidity-sensing Panasonic fans.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. The first conversation is free and carries no obligation. It starts as a discovery call about your scope, budget and timeline. If the project is a fit both ways, Schock schedules an in-home walkthrough and then delivers a full build estimate with a room-by-room breakdown and material allowances.
